It is becoming more and more common for clinics to offer genetic matching, based on a genetic compatibility test. This test analyzes a certain number of genes in both the egg donor and the male who will provide the sperm, in order to verify that both do not coincide in the same mutation. In this way, the aim of this test is to reduce the possibility of a baby being born with a genetic disease.
Therefore, if the donor and the male match the same mutation, there would be no genetic compatibility and the medical team must look for another donor who is compatible with the patient (or another sperm donor, as the case may be).
