Phenotypic and immunological matching between donor and recipient

In IVF with donated eggs (ovodonation), the medical team is in charge of assigning the most suitable egg donor to the recipient woman. For this purpose, the law establishes that the greatest phenotypic (height, complexion, eye color, hair and skin color...) and immunological (blood group and Rh factor) similarity of the available samples with the recipient must be guaranteed.

Therefore, the recipient cannot personally choose the egg donor, since in Spain this process is anonymous. However, the medical team will choose a donor with similar characteristics to those of the recipient.
