Contrast hysterosalpingosonography or HyCoSy is a type of hysterosalpingography where a saline solution is used as a contrast medium to visualize the uterus and fallopian tubes sonographically. Therefore, the main difference between HyCoSy and conventional hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the contrast medium used. In addition, HyCoSy does not require X-rays when an ultrasound is performed.
Other advantages of HyCoSy are as follows:
- Less discomfort.
- Easy and fast.
- Obtaining clear images.
- Performed in the office.
- Instant results.
