IMSI is a novel technique in assisted reproduction laboratories. This technique allows a better sperm selection, since it uses a 6000 magnification microscope.
Therefore, IMSI is indicated for males with poor sperm quality. Specifically, IMSI is recommended in patients diagnosed with teratozoospermia (high quantity of amorphous spermatozoa), patients with previous failures with ICSI, implantation failures and/or high sperm DNA fragmentation.
