The main difference between IVF and ICSI lies in the egg fertilization step. In ICSI procedures, the embryologist inserts manually the sperm into the egg cell, that is, the fusion between them occurs artificially. On the contrary, with classical IVF, the egg and the sperm are placed in a special dish, so that the sperm is able to hit the egg on its own and fertilize it.
