Classic in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) are two in vitro fertilization techniques, that is, both are created to favor the fertilization of the ovules by a sperm in the laboratory.
ICSI allows pregnancy to be achieved in cases that would be complicated by conventional IVF. However, the chances of success of these methodologies may vary due to certain factors such as the following:
- Ability of the embryologist.
- Cause of infertility.
- Gamete quality.
Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate each particular case, based on these and other factors, to decide which will be the most indicated technique.
