Chorionic villus sampling is an invasive prenatal diagnostic test performed between the 10th and 14th week of pregnancy. It involves taking a sample of chorionic villi from the placenta and analyzing the fetal karyotype.
Chorionic villus sampling has the advantage that it is performed before amniocentesis, although it also has the disadvantage of being a technique with more associated risks.
