Description

Next Fertility Valencia, formerly known as IMER Valencia, opened its doors in 1997, and has a long history in the world of assisted reproduction. Its medical director is Dr. Luis Alberto Quintero, who heads a team of 7 gynecologists. Carmen Díez Ridocci is in charge of the laboratory and works together with 5 embryologists. In total, there are 30 professionals from different fields at Next Fertility Valencia.

Regarding the facilities, Next Fertility Valencia has renovated each of its spaces in 2022, so the reception, waiting rooms, consultation rooms, etc. are modern and up to date.

Finally, Next Fertility Valencia performs more than 1,000 cycles per year and 50% of its patients are international. This clinic is also ISO 9001 certified.

If you need information on how to get to the clinic, either by public or private transport, please click here.

The Facility

Next Fertility Valencia is located on Avenida Burjassot in Valencia, in the neighborhood of Campanar. Right in front of the clinic there is a park, so it is surrounded by a green space.

Below are detailed all the facilities of the center, with the resources and technology available to perform assisted reproduction treatments.

Building and surroundings

Next Fertility Valencia is located very close to the Turia riverbed and the Valencia bus station. In addition, there is a hotel and a commercial area 5 minutes walking distance from the clinic.

The clinic occupies the entire ground floor of a corner building and has about 1,000 square meters of space. Its facade is light beige and the windows have blinds with the corporate colors. This ensures the privacy of their patients at all times.

In addition, the entire space of Next Fertility Valencia is adapted for people with reduced mobility since the doors are very wide and the toilets are also adapted accordingly.

Reception and waiting room

When patients enter the clinic, they find the reception area, where there is a white counter. Also, on the right hand side, there is a small office with pink chairs and a white table where patients are given an explanation of the estimates.

Next Fertility Valencia's reception is staffed by 3 people who work morning and afternoon shifts. All reception staff speak Spanish and English.

If you continue forward, there is a corridor where the waiting rooms are located. Specifically, there are 3 individual waiting rooms, guaranteeing patient privacy. Each of them has armchairs with the same shade as the wallpaper on the wall, which gives an aspect of care in the clinic. In addition, in the waiting rooms there is also a television to make the wait more pleasant, although it is not usually longer than 15-20 minutes.

During their stay at the clinic, the staff offers patients water, coffee and candy. WIFI and background music are available throughout the clinic to convey tranquility and serenity to patients.

Consulting rooms

At Next Fertility Valencia there are 5 consultign rooms and each one has an examination area. The equipment in these rooms consists of tables and chairs, a gynecological couch, a Voluson ultrasound scanner of the lastest generation and a monitor for patients to see the follicle count or the gestational sac, for example. In addition, Next Fertility Valencia's consultation rooms have their own bathroom with a WC, washbasin and bidet.

As mentioned above, 5 gynecologists work here. The languages spoken by the gynecologists are Spanish, English, Italian, German, Flemish and Dutch. In addition, all of them are on call on weekends and holidays, but only by telephone and not in person.

Operating room

The OR at Next Fertility Valencia occupies 30 square meters, making it a large and spacious operating room. There is direct communication between the operating room and the laboratory, which facilitates the transport of samples during the ovarian puncture.

Normally, there are 4 people present during surgery: the gynecologist, the anesthesiologist, the nurse and the assistant.

The operating room of Next Fertility Valencia is fully equipped with everything necessary to carry out the procedures for fertility treatments and outpatient surgery: surgical table, respirator, anesthesia equipment, hysteroscope, defibrillator and an ultrasound scanner with abdominal and vaginal probe of the latest generation of Mindray brand.

The hours for follicular puncture (ovum pickup) at Next Fertility Valencia are from 8:30am - 3:00pm, whilst embryo transfers are usually performed between 11:00am - 5:00pm. If scheduled for a weekend or on a public holiday, the hours are 8:30am - 12:00pm, regardless of the procedure.

On the other hand, Next Fertility Valencia's operating room is a sterile and clean space. All its corners and floor baseboards are rounded to avoid the accumulation of dirt. In addition, the material of the laboratory and operating room walls is made especially for sterile clean rooms.

Laboratories

Next Fertility Valencia has two laboratories, one for andrology and the other for embryology. Both laboratories occupy approximately 100 square meters where 5 embryologists work and are on call during weekends and holidays.

This center, like the rest of the Next Fertility group clinics, uses Witness as a security and traceability method for biological samples. This system is based on the use of radiofrequency identification chips that are attached to each sample. In this way, it is known at all times to which patient the samples belong and confusion between samples is avoided.

On the other hand, the administrative work is carried out outside the laboratory to avoid possible contamination of the samples.

The resources available in each of the different areas of the laboratory are detailed below.

Andrology laboratory

The andrology area is designed to perform procedures related to semen samples, such as seminograms, sperm capacitation, sperm selection, fragmentation analysis, sample processing for IVF-ICSI, freezing of semen samples and so on.

This laboratory of Next Fertility Valecia is equipped with:

  • 1 Laminar flow hood.
  • 1 Phase contrast microscopes
  • incubator
  • 1 centrifuges along with 2 more for the sperm bank.

Like the other Next Fertility locations, this clinic uses slow freezing as a method of cryopreservation of semen samples. In addition, the clinic has its own semen sample bank (CEIFER) and is adapted to work with infectious samples.

Embryology laboratory

The embryology laboratory of Next Fertility Valencia has three access areas, but in all cases access is restricted to authorized personnel only.

Here we find stainless steel furniture, rounded wall corners and floor baseboards, positive pressure and a filtering system with ventilation ducts using HEPA filters. All this ensures optimal conditions for embryo culture and that the laboratory is a completely sterile room.

The material available in the IVF laboratory of Next Fertility Valencia is detailed below:

  • 3 laminar flow hoods.
  • 2 heated work surfaces.
  • 3 heating blocks.
  • 2 antivibration tables.
  • 2 inverted microscopes.
  • 4 binocular loupes (magnifying glasses)
  • 2 Nikon microinjecters.
  • 8 automatic pipettes.
  • 2 Labotect incubators.
  • 1 K-System sandwich incubator.
  • 3 incubators with Time-lapse technology (GERI).

To cryopreserve eggs and embryos, Next Fertility Valencia uses vitrification. In addition, the laser method is used to biopsy embryos, but the biopsy is outsourced.

Recovery room

In the surgical area are the recovery rooms. There are 4 individual recovery boxes at Next Fertility Valencia and all of them have their own bathroom. In addition, the recovery rooms have an articulated bed, a small table and a chair for the companion.

After the interventions, the staff at Next Fertility Valencia offers patients help and juice to assess tolerance before discharge.

Semen sample collection room

Next Fertility Valencia has a room for the collection of semen samples and is located right next to the andrology laboratory.

This room has a blue chair, a sink, a toilet, a paper dispenser on the wall, a television and a buzzer. In this way, when patients have collected the sample, they ring the bell and the laboratory staff comes to collect it.

Nurses room

This is where blood draws are performed and patients are taught how to take their medication.

The furniture in the nursing room includes an armchair with white armrests, a cabinet for storing equipment, a sink and a computer for administrative tasks.

What is the first visit like?

The first visit at Next Fertility Valencia is informative, free of charge and can be done telematically. It lasts about 40 minutes and involves the reception staff, nurses, gynecologist and patient care department.

They always recommend their patients to bring with them all clinical reports, analyses and/or diagnostic tests performed previously for a better initial assessment.

This first visit consists of a presentation and various questions will be asked to create the patients' medical history. In addition, the visit includes a gynaecological examination and an ultrasound scan to measure ovarian reserve. The free first visit also includes an anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) test and a basic semen analysis for men.

Next Fertility Valencia is open for initial consultations Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 9:00pm, which are the same hours for ultrasounds.

The second results consultation is also included, so it is free of charge and offers a 50% bonus for complementary tests.

Get now your Fertility Report, which will select several clinics for you out of the pool of clinics that meet our strict quality criteria. Moreover, it will offer you a comparison between the fees and conditions each clinic offers in order for you to make a well informed choice.

Complementary techniques

In addition to all the treatments indicated in the previous section, Next Fertility Valencia has the necessary technology to perform the following complementary techniques in order to increase the chances of success of the treatments:

Diagnostic tests

In Next Fertility Valencia it is also possible to perform the following diagnostic tests, both in women who are in search of pregnancy and those who have already achieved it:

  • Female fertility testing.
  • Male fertility testing.
  • Karyotyping.
  • EndomeTRIO.
  • Two-dimensional ultrasound to confirm pregnancy.

Other services

In order for assisted reproduction treatments to be successful, the intervention of other medical specialists in addition to the gynecologist may be necessary. Therefore, Next Fertility Valencia offers its patients the following services:

  • Psychologist counselling service. Including one session for AI treatments, 2 sessions for IVF and egg donation.
  • Urology service
  • External geneticist.

In addition, Next Fertility Valencia, like Murcia, has a medical committee for highly complex cases and specialized units for repeat abortions and implantation failures.

Success rates

The Spanish Fertility Society is in charge of compiling the results of all the Spanish assisted reproduction clinics every year and making a statistical analysis. In fact, the SEF is the only scientific and independent organization of the clinics that collects and publishes these data in an objective manner.

Although our analysis of this clinic was carried out in 28th November, 2022, we have to indicate that the last report published by the SEF shows the success rates obtained in the year 2019 (National Activity Register 2019-SEF Register).

Normally, there is a delay of about 2 years in the publication of these statistics due to the difficulty in data collection and the controls that are carried out. It should be noted that, to collect data from a gestation achieved in December 2017, we must wait until delivery, which will be approximately in September 2018.

It should also be taken into account that directly comparing pregnancy rates between different clinics can lead to misunderstandings because there are many factors that influence the results, such as the cause of sterility or the particular characteristics of each treatment.

Therefore, the SEF data shown below should be taken as a mere guide. In addition, we recommend reading this article for a better interpretation of the statistics.

Realized cycles

Number of total cycles performed by the clinic in a year.

The SEF does not provide an exact number of annual cycles that each center performs, but rather it does so in the form of ranges as follows: less than 100 annual cycles, between 100 and 500 annual cycles, or more than 500 annual cycles.

From inviTRA we consider that for a better interpretation of the results it would be good that the SEF provides more exact data or smaller ranges for the number of annual cycles.

This is the total number of cycles performed by Next Fertility Valencia in a year.

Implantation rate per transfer

The probability that an embryo will implant in the woman's uterus after the transfer.

This success rate refers to the probability that a transferred embryo will nest in the woman's uterus. It is calculated as follows: number of gestational sacs observed on ultrasound divided by the number of embryos transferred.

The SEF shows this value in the form of an interval, since it is very complicated to provide an exact percentage due to the variability of factors that we have already discussed.

It should also be taken into account that the more assisted reproduction cycles the clinic performs, the narrower this interval will be and the better the interpretation.

Below, we show the implantation rates per embryo transfer in Next Fertility Valencia.

More information
Fresh embryo transfer

Frozen embryo transfer
19.2% - 38.7%

Pregnancy probability per transfer

Probability that an embryo transfer will lead to a pregnancy, regardless of the number of embryos transferred.

This success rate refers to the probability of pregnancy for each embryo transfer, regardless of the number of embryos transferred and the type of gestation obtained, that is, whether it is a single or multiple gestation.

The SEF divides this success rate according to the woman's age and is also shown in the form of an interval, so it is likely that very large intervals will be found in clinics that perform few cycles.

These are the pregnancy rates per embryo transfer obtained by Next Fertility Valencia.

Percentage of transferred embryos

Percentage of embryo transfers made with one, two or three embryos

According to Law 14/2006 on Assisted Human Reproduction Techniques, in Spain it is only permitted to transfer a maximum of 3 embryos at each attempt.

Even so, a higher percentage of single-embryo transfers is now considered a quality parameter for clinics, since although transfers of two or three embryos increase the rate of gestation, twin or multiple pregnancies have many risks for the mother and babies and must be avoided at all costs.

The recommendation of inviTRA is to transfer only 1 or 2 embryos whenever possible.

In Next Fertility Valencia they have the following percentages in terms of number of embryos transferred.

More information

Fresh embryo transfer

Transfer of 1 embryo (83.3%)
Transfer of 2 embryos (16.7%)
Transfer of 3 embryos (0%)

Frozen embryo transfer

Transfer of 1 embryo (81.4%)
Transfer of 2 embryos (18.6%)

Type of pregnancy per transfer

Types of pregnancies achieved according to the number of embryos transferred

As we have said, a single gestation is the best result that can be obtained after an assisted reproduction treatment.

In the following graphs, the percentage of each type of gestation obtained in Next Fertility Valencia is shown according to the number of embryos transferred.

Due to the risks associated with multiple pregnancies (lower birth weight, higher probability of premature birth, etc.), the ideal would be to always obtain a single gestation rate of 100%, regardless of having transferred 1, 2 or 3 embryos.

IVF with egg donation

Realized cycles

Number of total cycles performed by the clinic in a year.

As far as egg donation is concerned, these are the ranges of annual cycles performed by Next Fertility Valencia.

As we have indicated above, the SEF does not provide the exact number of cycles performed by a center and that makes it difficult to interpret.

Cycles with frozen embryos: 0 a 99 per year

Implantation rate per transfer

The probability that an embryo will implant in the woman's uterus after the transfer.

The probability of a successful egg donation is usually higher than that of IVF with own eggs.

Taking this into account, these are the implantation rates obtained in Next Fertility Valencia for IVF with donated eggs.

Pregnancy probability per transfer

Probability that an embryo transfer will lead to a pregnancy, regardless of the number of embryos transferred.

In the case of egg donation, the probability of achieving a pregnancy does not depend so much on the age of the recipient woman. Still, the SEF divides this success rate equally into age ranges.

It should also be noted that the current trend is to perform IVF with frozen donor eggs rather than fresh ones.

These are the pregnancy rates by embryo transfer obtained in Next Fertility Valencia for egg donation.

Pregnancy rate per cycle

Number of pregnancies per cycle according to the woman's age.

This success rate refers to the probability of achieving a pregnancy for each artificial insemination performed.

The SEF divides this success rate according to the woman's age and is also shown in the form of an interval, so it is likely to be found with very large intervals in clinics that perform few cycles.
