Iodine functions in pregnancy

Iodine is necessary during pregnancy, as it allows the baby's organs to develop properly, favoring brain maturation and psychomotor development.

In addition, iodine is essential for thyroid hormones to be formed. Among these hormones are T3 and T4, both secreted by the thyroid. Thanks to these thyroid hormones, growth, differentiation and maturation of the central nervous system are possible.
