Programmed intercourse, also known as directed intercourse, is a low complexity assisted reproductive technique. It involves having sexual intercourse on the woman's fertile days, that is, on the days close to ovulation, since this is when there is the greatest probability of pregnancy. For this, it is important to control the time of ovulation and this can be done naturally or with hormonal medication.
Therefore, in order to carry out a programmed coitus, it is necessary that the woman is less than 30 years old and the couple has a good reproductive prognosis. In addition, programmed coitus is recommended for couples who have been seeking pregnancy for a short period of time.
