When a woman is going to undergo artificial insemination (AI), it is essential that her fallopian tubes are patent. Otherwise, fertilization of the egg would not occur and, therefore, pregnancy would not be achieved.
Therefore, before performing an AI, it is important to check tubal patency. To do this, a hysterosalpingography or a hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography can be performed.
