Law 14/2006, on assisted human reproduction techniques, is the law that regulates the egg donation process in Spain. According to this law, egg donation is an anonymous, altruistic, voluntary and formal act.
Therefore, the donor will not know the identity of the recipient, nor vice versa. Furthermore, donors cannot be recruited by offering financial benefits, although donors may receive financial compensation for the inconvenience and expenses incurred.
Finally, the egg donor must sign an informed consent form, after having been informed of everything involved in the donation process and its consequences.
