Success rates of PGD with HLA typing

When PGD is used to dismiss the embryos that have inherited a recessive genetic disease, there is a 75 percent chance that we obtain healthy embryos, although some of them will still be carriers of the disease.

However, this percentage diminishes to a large extent when PGD is combined with HLA typing, as the chances of finding embryos that are histocompatible with the HLA system of the older brother are 25%.

To sum up, the combination of PGD + HLA typing has a 19% chance of success.
