Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium Treponema Pallidum, which is very contagious.

Syphilis can affect both men and women and lead to serious complications if not treated early with antibiotics such as Penicillin G and erythromycin.

The main clinical manifestation of syphilis is the appearance of sores in the genital area called chancres, which can be spread by just touching them.
