HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a type of virus that infects human beings and affects the cells of their immune system, especially the T4 or CD4 lymphocytes.
On the other hand, AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is the most advanced stage of HIV infection, in which the population of healthy lymphocytes is very low and the body is left without defenses. At this advanced stage of the disease, any infection such as a simple flu could kill the affected person.
