Mature milk is the last type of breast milk and is produced after 4 weeks of age. This milk contains a high amount of fat, protein, water and calories.
It is normal to produce about 700-900 mL of mature milk per day. In addition, at each feeding, the texture of the mature milk varies between the beginning and the end of the feeding. At the beginning of the feeding, mature milk has a much lighter texture to quench thirst. After a short time, however, mature milk acquires a creamier texture to quench the baby's appetite.
