Vaginismus can be treated by performing Kegel exercises. These are pelvic floor exercises that work the pubococcygeus muscle and other muscles surrounding the vaginal area.
In addition, relaxation techniques and the use of vaginal dilators can be tried. All these measures can be accompanied by couple therapy to combat the psychological reasons for vaginismus and its possible consequences on the relationship with the partner.
