Vitamin A, also called retinol, is a fat-soluble vitamin that dissolves in fats, but not in urine. Adequate amounts of this vitamin are usually obtained through certain foods, so vitamin supplements are not usually necessary.
There are two forms of vitamin A: provitamin A or carotenes and permeated vitamin A.
