Embryo transfer is the final step of an in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, which consists of the introduction of an embryo (or several, but generally no more than two) into the woman's uterus in order for it to implant and achieve gestation.
The embryo transfer process is simple and painless, so it does not require anesthesia and does not need to be performed in the operating room.
