Recommendations before embryo transfer

Recommendations before embryo transfer

At the time of embryo transfer to the patient's uterus in an in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, it is important to take into account some recommendations such as the following:

  • Go with a full bladder. It is important to drink water before the embryo transfer, as having a full bladder will make it easier to insert the cannula into the uterus.
  • Do not use perfumes. Certain chemicals can affect gametes and embryos.
  • It is not necessary to fast. Embryo transfer, despite being performed in the operating room, is not a surgical procedure.

In addition, it is also important to be relaxed, since the embryo transfer is not a painful procedure. Thus, the muscles will not be tense and the procedure will be easier.
