At the time of embryo transfer to the patient's uterus in an in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, it is important to take into account some recommendations such as the following:
- Go with a full bladder. It is important to drink water before the embryo transfer, as having a full bladder will make it easier to insert the cannula into the uterus.
- Do not use perfumes. Certain chemicals can affect gametes and embryos.
- It is not necessary to fast. Embryo transfer, despite being performed in the operating room, is not a surgical procedure.
In addition, it is also important to be relaxed, since the embryo transfer is not a painful procedure. Thus, the muscles will not be tense and the procedure will be easier.
