When a woman has a delayed menstrual period, one of the possible causes, if sexual intercourse has taken place, is pregnancy. In addition, it is advisable to check if this is the reason for the delay in menstruation, even if contraceptive protection has been used: it is not very common, but contraceptive methods can fail.
Urine pregnancy tests can be easily performed at home and can be a good option for the woman to find out for sure. If the result is positive, the menstrual delay is due to pregnancy. If the test result is negative, it is advisable to see a specialist so that he/she can try to find out the cause of the delay in the menstrual period.
