The first trimester ultrasound, which is performed between 11 and 13 weeks of pregnancy, is usually a 2D ultrasound in which a multitude of parameters are evaluated in the foetus, such as the presence of all the members of its anatomy and the cranial-caudal length (CRL) to find out if it has the measurements corresponding to the gestational age.
However, the most important aspect of this ultrasound is to estimate the risk of possible chromosomal alterations. To do this, the study known as triple screening will be performed.
