Success rates of IVF vs IUI

One of the main advantages of in vitro fertilization (IVF) is the success rates it offers, which, as can be seen in this graph, are considerably higher than artificial insemination (AI).

In addition, it is important to keep in mind that the success rate of any reproductive option will depend on age. In women under 35 years of age, the probability of pregnancy per transfer with IVF-ICSI is 42.1%; while with AI it is 13.5%. These percentages are reduced in women over 40 years of age to 21.9% and 8.2% respectively.

All these percentages have been extracted from the latest statistical registry of the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF), which corresponds to the year 2023.

The statistical data shown here should not be used to imply or predict a certainty of outcome for a specific individual within an at-risk population.
