The incidence of ectopic pregnancy has been reported to be higher in assisted reproduction pregnancies than in naturally conceived pregnancies. However, one of the most important risk factors for ectopic pregnancy is tubal factor, which is also a common reason for resorting to assisted reproduction techniques.
Thus, it is to be expected that the incidence of ectopic pregnancy will be higher after assisted reproduction techniques, but this is related to the infertility that led to the use of these techniques in the first place.
A similar situation occurs with patients who resort to assisted reproduction techniques due to endometriosis or advanced maternal age, both factors associated with an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy.
