It is very common for pregnant women to receive advice that they should now "eat for two". However, this is a widespread myth that can even be harmful.
Pregnant women do not need to eat twice as much. This could lead to excessive weight gain in pregnancy and the development of gestational diabetes.
On the other hand, it is advisable to eat small, but frequent meals. The diet should be healthy and balanced, containing the nutrients needed by both mother and baby.
