The widely held popular belief that you cannot have sex during pregnancy is a myth. The truth is that, if the pregnancy is developing normally and without complications, it is possible to have sex while pregnant.
However, there are several situations in which sexual intercourse during pregnancy would not be advisable:

- History or risk of preterm delivery.
- History or risk of miscarriage.
- Cervical insufficiency.
- Placenta praevia.
- Amniotic fluid leakage.
- Multiple pregnancy.
