How soon can you trust a pregnancy test?

The main indicator that a woman is pregnant is the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone, since it is only produced when a woman is pregnant.

Women can take a home pregnancy test and get accurate results as soon as after having a delayed period. In the case of women undergoing IVF, we do not recommend testing for pregnancy earlier than 10-15 days after the embryo transfer (ET). Otherwise, you may get a false negative result.
