The subdermal contraceptive implant is a flexible rod that contains a progestin, i.e. hormones that are released continuously. It is a contraceptive method for those women who do not want to conceive in a long period of time, since it is not necessary to change until after 3 or 5 years. There are two types of contraceptive implants for clinical use: Jadell and Implanon, but in both cases they can cause adverse effects.
Some of the symptoms secondary to the use of the contraceptive implant are the following:
- Headache.
- Breast pain.
- Hair growth.
- Dizziness.
- Nausea.
- Mood swings.
