Timing of the pregnancy test is crucial to avoid erroneous results, as the test is often performed prematurely and this can lead to false negatives.
In the case of a natural conception, you should wait to perform the pregnancy test at least 15 days after unprotected intercourse or until you have a delay in your period.
If artificial insemination has been performed, the waiting time for the pregnancy test is similar: 15 days after insemination. On the other hand, if in vitro fertilization (IVF) has been performed, the pregnancy test can be performed 12 days after the transfer of the embryo was at the blastocyst stage.
