Miscarriage is the loss of pregnancy before the 20th week of pregnancy. There are several causes that can lead to miscarriage, either because there is malformation in the fetus or because of problems in the mother.
Chromosomal alterations in the fetus could be a reason for miscarriage. Similarly, uterine anomalies or autoimmune problems in the mother could also cause gestational loss in the first weeks of pregnancy.
