During the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle (from day 1 to about day 14 of the cycle), the cervical mucus is thick and thick. In addition, the cervical secretion forms a barrier at the cervix that makes it difficult for sperm and infection-causing microorganisms to enter.
However, as the time of ovulation approaches, the cervical mucus will begin to become thicker and change in appearance.
