Chronic endometritis is an inflammation of the endometrium, the layer that lines the inside of the uterus. Since this is the uterine layer where the embryo must implant to result in a pregnancy, chronic endometritis has been in the spotlight in the field of assisted reproduction as a contributing factor to recurrent implantation failure (when good quality embryos fail to implant).
