The quarterly contraceptive injection is given for the first time between the first and the fifth day of the woman's menstrual cycle, that is, between the first and the fifth day of menstruation. However, it is recommended that the woman consult with the specialist about whether she should use a condom if she has sexual intercourse in the 7-14 days after the injection.
Thereafter, the quarterly contraceptive injection should be given every 12 weeks, regardless of when the woman has her period. Thus, the injection is usually given on the same day of the month, every 3 months (August 8, November 8...).
