Donors can be anonymous or known to the intended parents. Some intended parents are willing to pay even $50,000 if they are seeking a donor with specific cultural and physical characteristics.
However, according to the ASRM, sums above $10,000 are not appropriate because it leads women to be improperly influenced to donate.
