What is an embryo?

What is an embryo?

An embryo is an organism in its earliest stage of development, which is considered once the zygote divides. Therefore, from day 2 of development to week 9 of pregnancy, the term embryo is used.

In the field of assisted reproduction, embryo transfer in IVF treatment can be done with 3-day embryos or 5-day embryos, also called blastocysts.
