Endometritis or inflammation of the endometrium is usually caused by infection. However, there are risk factors for endometritis, such as:
- Prolonged labor, as the uterus is exposed to bacteria for a long period of time.
- Cesarean section after making the abdominal incision to remove the baby.
- Endometrial biopsy due to tissue manipulation.
- Hysteroscopy.
- Uterine curettage.
Although these are some risk factors for endometritis, it does not mean that women who go through any of these situations will suffer endometrial inflammation.
