I am about to start assisted reproduction treatment but I am not getting my period, what can I do?

You should inform your gynaecologist to evaluate the case, as there are many reasons for not menstruating. In addition, the type of treatment to be performed will also change the conduct to follow, as it is very different to perform ovarian preservation or IVF-genetic, where we do not want an immediate pregnancy, to an AI treatment, IVF, egg/embryo transfer, where the endometrium must have optimal conditions.

In order for the professional to make a correct assessment, your doctor will probably do an ultrasound scan and, if necessary, a blood test. If a cause for this menstrual delay is determined that could affect the process you should undergo, it will be resolved beforehand.

If no cause is identified and the ovaries are at rest, your gynaecologist will probably suggest that you start treatment directly or take hormones to induce a menstrual period.
