There are two main gonadotropins: FSH and LH. Both hormones are secreted by the pituitary gland and act on the ovary to promote the release of estrogen and progesterone.
Other pituitary hormones are TSH and prolactin. TSH is a hormone that stimulates the thyroid gland.
Prolactin is responsible for the secretion of milk by the mammary glands and the synthesis of progesterone.
