When a man has a semen analysis to study the quality of his semen, it is important to respect the time of abstinence. It is normal to have around 3-5 days of abstinence before performing a semen analysis. If the period of abstinence is longer, the result of the semen analysis may show a high concentration of spermatozoa and motility problems.
In addition, if the period of abstinence is shorter than recommended or not at all, the semen analysis result would also be unrealistic.
