At the time of a first visit to an assisted reproduction centre, the specialist will fill out a medical history with as much information as possible.
The doctor will ask various questions to obtain information about lifestyle, profession, length of menstrual cycles, age of the first period, previous pregnancies or if there are any diagnosed illnesses in the family. All these questions are asked in an attempt to get to know the whole environment and all the factors that may affect the couple's ability to achieve pregnancy.
A detailed interview can help to identify the causes of the problem and possible solutions. It will also allow specific and personalised diagnostic tests to be carried out.
