Hello, we’re a married couple from Ontario, CANADA that has just been diagnosed with infertility… I’m 29 with pathological changes in fallopian tubes and need IVF. We wanted to make sure if we will get government-funded fertility treatment wth OHIP… Also, if we are eligible, what’s your recommendation for us to get started? Thanks for any help you can provide us with…
12/08/2017 at 12:39 pmHello Elissa,
Thank you very much for posting a thread in this forum. Indeed, Ontario offers funding to participating fertility clinics across the province as long as the patient is eligible and a resident in Ontario. Once you learn what treatments are covered, the next step for you to take is to talk to one of the clinics that participate in OHIP, or your doctor. The basic requirement to get government-funded fertility treatment is 1) to live in Ontario; 2) to have a valid Ontario health card. It offers coverage to all family types.
To get information about the treatment types and coverage limits, please visit the official website: What’s covered by OHIP.
I hope this helps,
Best
