When should you consider using donor eggs?

Hi there, I’m 32 and with my husband I’ve been trying to conceive for over 8 months with no luck 🙁 My husband did a fertility test and the result was that he is super healthy and his sperm is of optimal quality. Now it’s my turn to do the fertility test and I’m afraid the problems is mine, I’m honestly freaking out!! Do you think it could be because of my own eggs? Should we move on to donor eggs? The truth is, making the decision to use donor eggs is quite complicated, so please if anyone could share his thoughts on using donor eggs, I’d be really grateful!

Egg donation is especially recommended in cases of low ovarian reserve or egg production, premature ovarian failure (early menopause), implantation failure, recurrent miscarriage, previous IVF failure, or presence of genetic abnormalities likely to be inherited to offspring.

In principle, and bearing in mind that you are 32 years old, there is no reason for your eggs to be non-viable. Perhaps it is due to another problem such as menstrual irregularities. Anyhow, we won’t be able to know it until you get the results of the fertility test and your case is thoroughly evaluated. Egg donation is usually the last option, recommended usually when chances for other treatments to be successful are very low.

Besides, taking into account that the fertility evaluation of your husband’s sperm shows very positive results, it seems like in this case infertility is of female origin.Nevertheless, it could also be a problem of you both or a case of unexplained infertility, in which case more specific evaluations will be taken in order to find a potential way to solve it.

You said you’ve been TTC for over 8 months, but how long exactly? Because at your age, we may suspect the presence of fertility problems not earlier than 12 months engaging into unsafe sexual intercourse. Therefore, maybe there is no actual fertility problem.
