Aneuploidies are a type of chromosomal disorders that characterize because the normal number of chromosomes of one specie is altered. The human being has a genetic set composed of 46 chromosomes. Thus, being born with a superior or inferior number of chromosomes translates into an abnormal development of the affected individual. Some examples of aneuploidies are:
- Monosomies
- Turner Syndrome (only one X chromosome).
- Trisomies
- Down Syndrome (triplication of chromosome 21).
