Preimplantation genetic diagnosis, also known by its acronym PGD, is a complementary technique used in in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments. Thanks to PGD, it is possible to discard chromosomally altered embryos in order to transfer only healthy ones.
Therefore, PGD is indicated in patients with risk of disease transmission, altered karyotype, repeated miscarriages or who have undergone several unsuccessful IVF cycles.
