Causes of haemorrhoids in pregnancy

Haemorrhoids or piles are a fairly common condition during pregnancy, especially from the third trimester onwards. The main cause of haemorrhoids in pregnant women is constipation. However, this is not the only factor. The growth of the uterus as well as increased levels of progesterone can also cause the formation of haemorrhoids.

In addition, straining during childbirth can also lead to swollen haemorrhoidal veins.
