Sperm donation means the provision of sperm from a male donor to a female recipient, which means conception occurs through a fertility treatment. The treatment of choice is usually intrauterine insemination (IUI), although it can be used for in vitro fertilization (IVF) as well depending on the conditions of the female recipient.
The chances of conceiving are higher than with husband's sperm, as sperm donors are young men able to produce high-quality semen samples. This, at the same time, makes the process more expensive, as the payment to the donor should be added, among other aspects.
