If a miscarriage occurs, hCG (chorionic gonadotropin) or pregnancy hormone values decrease. However, it is possible to find beta hCG until 3-6 weeks later, when it is no longer detectable.
This means that the woman still has pregnancy hormone in her body for a period of time even though she has miscarried. Therefore, a pregnancy test can be positive even though the miscarriage has already occurred. However, it is a good idea to monitor the evolution of hCG levels and check that they are decreasing until they are no longer detectable.
