The name HELLP syndrome is due to a triad of characteristic effects:
- Haemolysis or destruction of red blood cells.
- Increased liver enzymes.
- Decreased platelet levels.
This syndrome can endanger both the health of the mother-to-be and the baby. For this reason, it is essential to carry out a correct diagnosis and treatment.
