Herpes is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), which can be differentiated into two types or strains:

  • Single Herpes Type 1 (VHS-1). It is usually the one that causes oral herpes.
  • Single Herpes type 2 (VHS-2). It is usually the one that causes genital herpes.

In the case of genital herpes, its clinical manifestations are usually the appearance of sores in the area of the vulva, vagina, cervix, anus, penis, scrotum, buttocks and / or inner thighs, plus a burning sensation and intense pain when urinating.

Herpes is spread from skin to skin, especially by having unprotected sex or oral sex. Currently, there is no definitive cure for this type of viral infection, although there are medications that help reduce symptoms and prevent transmission to others.
