Although the terms infertility and sterility are used synonymously, they do not mean the same thing. Infertility goes beyond sterility. In this case, fertilization occurs between the egg and the sperm, but the pregnancy is not carried to term.
There are two main reasons for this:
- Implantation failure
- fails to implant the embryo in the uterus, so the pregnancy test is negative from the beginning..
- Miscarriage
- the embryo implants in the uterus and the pregnancy test is positive. However, after a short time the embryo is lost and the pregnancy does not continue to develop.
Tanto el fallo de implantación como los abortos pueden ser consecuencia de un problema en la mujer, en el hombre o incluso en ambos miembros de la pareja.
